1. Toccata
2. Cirandeiro
3. тељои заплетено

1. Toccata: (Italian) “to touch”.
Absence of a body.
The voice as an authority without a body. The audition follows the diagram of rabbi Baal HaSulamʼs four developmental stages of the primordial desire. The movements are inspired by William Forsytheʼs Improvisation Technologies.
Stage 0: Root (light)
Stage 1: Desire to Receive
Stage 2: Desire to Give over the Desire to Receive Stage 3: Desire to Receive in order to Give
Stage 4: Desire to receive everything

2. Cirandeiro: sieving-man.
The absence of a partner.
Originally Tango started of as a dance between two men expressing their desire for the women back in their home countries. The “tango of the campadron” expressed the symbolic mortal combat of the man. It was danced in a ballet- like style, either alone or with a group of men.

3. тељои заплетено- barbed wire
Absence of men.
Interpretation of the male part in Eastern-European folklore dance. Men and woman dance in a row or circle, separately. They are never in direct physical contact but only dancing for each other.

Lotte van der Woude

Artistic research on states of desire included a workshop for artist on the topic and art practice, socratic dialogue, film screening and lecture and a final group exhibition.

My contribution to the Precart Collective entailed an organised film screening with lecture on the desire to chase within the realm of men shown in cinema.
For the exhibition I showed a work in progress made on the topic States of Desire:
"Desire, unfinished".
